If you have two choices of saving one person from death but might cause more people die and give up that one person but keep the rest of people safe, which one would you choose. In the movie The Martian, there was a scene at 6 minute into the movie, where the Mars exploration group encountered a huge dilemma involving the choice of saving a crew member by the name of Watney over getting off the planet safely. I'm going to tell you my thought about the movie, from the point view of the leader, the crews, and the pilot in the movie.

If I were the leader, I would leave with the team that I think is still alive because I’m responsible for everyone on the team. Staying for one person is responsible for the one person but not for the whole team because the situation was already very dangerous and could lead to everyone dying. As a leader of the group I need to get as many people back to safety as soon as possible. If I were a team member I would go against the commander’s orders to search for Watney because it would endanger everyone. While it is important to follow orders when you are part of the team. However, sometimes, the commander’s orders should be disobeyed when it comes to the matter of safety for the whole team. If I were the pilot, I would also decide to leave because, much like being part of the crew, the safety of one member does not outweigh the safety of the crew.

When a leader, like the commander in the movie, decides that a single goal is more important than the safety of the crew; it can lead to everyone’s death. A good example of this would be Captain Ahab and his crew in the novel Moby Dick. We see the idea of the lack of checks and balances talked about in the article Authoritarian and Authorial Power in Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick by Amy Knoll. The article explains that “the Pequod’s crew must decide whether to rebel or obey. Their ultimate course of obedience…results in the death of all but Ishmael” and “the dangerous nature of power and the consequences of failing to question such power.” This shows that if no one in a team goes against the decisions of a leader, it can kill everyone, this scenario is like the one shown in the movie. It would have ended very badly if they stayed and tried to save Watney.

Trust and respect within a team is very important. A leader needs to think of anyone and the crew needs to trust the leader to keep them safe, this is the reason for the decisions that I made when it comes to saving Watney. I feel that in the movie, the commander has endangered everyone choosing to stay until the very last second. Everyone in the ship survived because the pilot decided to pressure the leader to return or he would leave her behind. Losing Watney was sad, but the life of one person should not be more important than the life of the group.

When it come to a serious situation like the scene in the movie, the choices of the characters are very important. In the movie, the rest of people except Watney launched the rocket safely and left because the leader gave up Watney at in the end of that scene, but it was still a very dangerous decision. I think crews in a team should disobey the leader's command if it's necessary and serious. Base on my thought about the responsibility of the different people on a team, I think if you are a team leader, you shouldn't make rough decisions; for being a crew, you should trust your leader but not following the leader deadly. Because every decision will be very serious when it comes a dangerous situation.

如果你有兩種選擇：拯救一個人免於死亡，但可能導致更多人死亡，或是放棄那個人，但保證其他人的安全，你會選擇哪一個？在電影《絕地救援》開場 6 分鐘的時候，火星探索小組遇到了一個困境選擇冒險拯救一名名叫瓦尼的船員，或是是安全離開地球。

如果我是領導者，我會和還活著的團隊一起離開，因為我要對團隊中的每個人負責。留下去找瓦尼只是對他負責，而不是對整個團隊負責，因為情況已經很危險了，可能會導致所有人死亡。作為小組的領導者，我需要盡快讓盡可能多的人回到安全的地方。如果我是團隊成員，我會違背指揮官的命令去尋找沃特尼，因為這會危及所有人。當你是團隊的一員時，遵守命令很重要。但是，有時在涉及整個團隊的安全問題時，應該不服從指揮官的命令。如果我是在火箭上的那個人，我也會決定離開，因為一名成員的安全不會比全部人員的安全重要。

團隊內部的信任和尊重非常重要。領導者需要考慮所有人，隊員需要信任領導者以確保他們的安全，這就是我在拯救瓦尼時做出決定的思考因素。我覺得在電影中，指揮官已經害每個人都留下來直到最後一秒。最後火箭上的每個人都倖免於難，因為飛行員決定迫使領導者返回，否則他會把她留在後面。失去瓦尼固然傷心，但一個人的生命不應該比團隊的生命更重要。

像電影中的場景這樣嚴重的情況，人物的選擇非常重要。電影中，除了瓦尼以外的其他人都安全發射火箭離開了，因為領導在那個場景的最後放棄了瓦尼，但這仍然是一個非常危險的決定。我認為如果有必要的話，團隊中的工作人員應該不服從領導的命令。如果您是團隊領導者，則不應做出粗暴的決定；作為一個船員，你應該相信你的領導，但不要跟隨領導送命。因為當遇到危險情況時，每一個決定都會非常嚴肅且關鍵。
