Exploring the Exploration of Space is the work and result of the small group of eleven students of The Junior High program @ Da'An. This work was completed within approximately 50% in class and 50% online due to the developments with COVID-19
In this semester, we became involved in numerous issues including: the challenges and opportunities of automation, nutritional and physical needs of space travel, governance and management of future space colonies, self-sustainable farming, rocket propulsion, AI and robot rights, rights and responsibilities of citizenship, calculations for healthy eating, skills and abilities to remain competitive in the new age, modes of transportation and the effects on humanity, and much much more. As always, we continued the practice and implementation of real world applicable work skills as well including 2d and 3d design, processes in formal academic research and writing, project management and team collaboration, programming for real-world tasks, and others.
We are incredibly proud of the results and value that these young students have been able to achieve. The current worldwide pandemic situation has presented countless challenges for them in terms of uncertainty in methods of classes, personal health, social relationships, and life in general. All this was in addition to the normal challenges of this age group, trying hard to keep up with studies, wanting to be seen as more than children, finding their own values, struggling to establish themselves as individuals. Throughout it all, they have persevered, sometimes willingly, sometimes grudgingly, and sometimes kicking and screaming as we made our way to the finish line.
As before, the students’ results speak for themselves. The content and value presented in this exhibition of learning and growth is clearly far beyond what would be expected from any average junior high or even high school level work. Displayed here is clear proof of our learning, growth, technical skill, and ability to contribute in the real world of industry and society. These students will likely be the leaders of tomorrow, but for now, let’s enjoy their accomplishments while they are young!
「太空探索之多元探究」為大安國中校內一個體制外實驗教育計劃班級,共11名學生一同努力下的結晶。 由於COVID-19疫情的關係,此網頁呈現出的作品與成果,約於實體和線上課程中完成各半。
我們這學期探討了許多議題,如自動化帶來的挑戰與契機、太空旅行時面臨的營養與其它身體需求、未來太空殖民地的管治及管理、永續農業、火箭推進原理、人工智能和機器人的權利、健康飲食之營養計算、公民權利與責任、在新時代保持競爭力的技能與能力、交通運輸方式對人類生活的影響等。學生們一如往常地持續運用及精進適用於現實世界中的工作技能,含2d 和 3d 設計、正規的學術研究和論文寫作方法、專案管理與團隊合作、及真實世界目標導向的程式設計等。
我們對於學生產出的結果感到十分自豪。過程中,他們除了要面對這個年齡層正常會遇到的難題,像是如何跟上學業、如何不再被視為小孩、如何找到自己的價值觀及建立人格等,還必須適應全球蔓延的新冠疫情所造成的不論是在上課方式、個人健康、社交或是生活上,帶來的無數挑戰和不確定性。即便如此,學生們仍克服了所有困境一路堅持了過來 (當然過程中也不乏心不甘情不願的時刻)。
學生取得的成果不言自明,此展覽呈現出的學生學習成效及成長,相信已遠超任何人對於初中甚至高中生的期望。 我們希望透過此展覽證明,學生因為我們教學方式所學到的內容、培養出的專業技能、以及各方面的成長,皆賦予了他們足以在現實社會及業界做出實質貢獻的能力。我們期許這些學生有朝一日能成為明日世界的領導者,而現在就讓我們一同為他們目前的成就共襄盛舉吧!
