Conversation With Doshisha Partner
1. The food information you gave that your partner seemed to be the most interested in or surprised by
Before we talk about this I want to say something about my partner. She doesn’t talk that much. She sounds like my friend from America and she told me she felt sorry for not telling me too much about her Japanese life because she used to live in Oregon. She told us that she had only been in Japan for 5 months and lives in a city named Kyoto now.
She said her chinese was bad and her she was fluent in english.
2. The food information that you asked about and got an answer to
I ask about what Japanese people actually eat in a day. She hasn't lived in japan a long time but she said they usually eat fish for their breakfast and it also depends on what the person wants to eat. She also told me that her favorite japanese food was mochi.
3. Differences in the way that your partner talks or communicates compared to what you are used to in your friends around you
She sounded like my bratty friend from America and she also talks in a very lazy way. Sometimes when Ron is playing games with me, he talks in a very energetic way while the girl talked in a very lazy and monotone fashion.
4. What are two things you had trouble understanding when you were talking to your partner? I did not really have trouble understanding anything because we were both bad at chinese and good in english.
5. What kind of things do you need to remember and what kind of skills are needed for cross-cultural communication?
I think we need to respect their culture and be intrested in it. The more they see you being intrested, the more they want to talk to you.
