An Essay Based on Your Team Reading
Hitler, Trump, Stalin, Putin, and The Fat Korean leader are all examples of very dominant leaders in the past century. Yesterday, our team read articles about the goverment, political system, and why laws are important. My team an I need to make a new colony on the moon. This is important because in order to make a good colony, you need to know what you are doing. You should listen to me because we are the ones trying to make the colony. I will talk about the diffrent types of government, the branches of the goverment, and the some reasons of why laws are important.
If you live in Taiwan, what goverment system do you think you live in? If you answered democractic or constitutional democracy, you are correct. Other countries like the United States and England are also constitutional democracies. Supreme power is vested by the people in this type of system. An article from Britannica Kids stated that the people vote in regularly held elections which decided the political party. The article also stated that the United States are the leading example of the presidential system while England is the classic example of a parliamentary system. Now, the most dominant of them all, Dictatorship. According to Britannica Kids, dictatorship is when one person or a small group holds absolute power. Examples of some countries who use dictatorship are North Korea, China, Nazis, and old Soviet Union. Finally, I will talk about Monarchy. Monarchy is based on an undivided rule by an individual person. An article from Britannica Kids stated that The monarch has all power and could be a dictator. But, there is another type of monarchy, constitutional monarchy. Constitutional monarchy is where the power is shared with a organized goverment. This means that the King or Queen won't just have all the power.
You can't have a good organized government without the three main branches. The first one is Legislative. The legislative branch creates the laws and they send those laws to the executive branch. The people who work in the legislative branch is Congress and the compromised of the House of Representitives and Senate. An article from usa.gov stated that the legislative branch drafts proposed laws, confirms or rejects presidential nominations for heads of federal agencies, federal judges, and the Supreme Court, and has the authority to declare war. The second branch is the executive branch. The executive branch carries out the laws for the goverment. Examples for people who work in this branch is the president, vice president, cabinet, and most federal agencies. The usa.gov article also stated that the president can veto legislation created by Congress and nominates heads of federal agencies. This means that the president can reject the laws coming from Congress and can choose the leaders of federal agenices. The last branch is the judicial branch. The judicial branch evalutes the laws and interprets the meaning of the laws. Usually, the supreme court work in this branch. According to usa.gov, the judicial branch decides if laws violate the Constitution. This means that they decide if someone violated the rules and should be sent to jail, or they were not guilty and was not behind bars.
But, there is also no colony without the laws. Here is some reasons of why laws are important. First, laws set the standard for acceptable, and unacceptable behaviours. This means that when people have laws, they will help people understand if something is acceptable to do or not acceptable to do. A second reason is that laws provide access to justice. An article from The Important Site gave an example and said, “If it’s against the law to punch someone in the face, someone who gets punched can do something about it other than simply swinging back. In a perfect world, justice is equal.” The third reason is that laws keep everyone safe. Laws will help protect you from getting robbed or shot. The article from The Important Site stated that Laws don’t only respond to injustices and harm. They work to prevent them. This means that laws don't just make people go to court if something bad happens, but laws try to prevent from happening ever again.
All in all, I hope our readings about the diffrent types of government, the branches of the goverment, and the some reasons of why laws are important will help my team create our colony. In order to make a good running goverment, you can't have one important missing piece or else your colony is in shambles. Now, you should see what you would want for your colony and think about how you would run it.Also, my team and I should research about what goverment system would fit a totally new society. Hitler, Trump, Stalin, Putin, and The Fat Korean leader are all dominant and some of them know how to maniuplate their whole country.
