Factors that Lead to Success
By: Zoey
What are the differences between normal people and successful people? Why they can be “successful”? Today in class we researched the people that we think are really successful, and what special techniques or skills they have. In order to understand more about each successful person we research each person’s early family wealth, highest education, early family background…etc.
Through this research, I discovered that it is very few people are starting from scratch, in the past I always thought that the people who were successful because their families were poor and they wanted to change the situation, so they studied and worked really hard to be rich and successful(I think I watched too many Korean dramas). However, the research answers are totally different from what I expected, only 2 out of 17 people are from lower-middle-class families, and the other 15 people all have quite rich families, which tells us having a rich family can help you succeed. but why is that, I asked one of my friends about it. She said if you are born in a rich family you can learn more and special skills that others can not, and have more opportunities to try and fail.
Another discovery was about education, 14 out of 19 people are University graduates or above. It means studying in school can help you succeed, the school will give you new knowledge every day, and campus(校園) life can teach you how to socialize and communicate with others. School can help us improve ourselves, but if you think school can not give you more knowledge, you already have your own business or have an interest that you want to follow, you can be like Zuckerberg and Bill Gates they both dropped out of University and focus on their business
If you want to be successful, have a rich family, and have high educational qualifications can be useful, but these are not the only conditions to be successful. We can not change our birth(original family), some are born to be rich some are not. Successful people Marie Curie and Timothy Donald Cook's family are both not rich. Study is important, study can help people succeed, some body born to be smart some are not. Other learn once to reach the level, I need to learn three times. Working hard may not necessarily lead to success, but you will definitely have more opportunities than others.
