About the Program 關於課程
This educational program is a rigorous English-only curriculum based on technology, habits of thought, and work processes. Students acquire skills and knowledge which are real-world and industry-grade, with tools and processes including programming, media technologies, and design. Students are shown that skills and knowledge can be interconnected to achieve goals and reach positive outcomes, and the curriculum helps students to build resilience and independence rather than rote memorization and test-taking skills. This curriculum allows students to explore and safely learn from mistakes, and covers traditional and more modern subjects: programming, statistics, math, writing, science, art/design, social studies, and communication/business studies.
Guided by various discipline experts as mentors, the students complete interdisciplinary projects that involve all subjects and engage with socially relevant themes. The instructors include teacher mentors and external partners from industry and society, working as a team to provide comprehensive, effective, and relevant instruction. Flipped classroom teaching methods and technological solutions allow students to proceed at their own pace in particularly challenging subjects. Students are assessed according to their interaction with tasks, their success in solving problems, and for reaching goals. Student assignments and projects entail more than one single academic area.
The learning process is circular, recurrent, and iterative, as the program consistently builds upon previously acquired skills or challenges students to apply habits and processes across contexts, each iteration more complicated and involved than the last. Learning is often student-directed, cooperative, and mutually constructed, with pupils self-learning, sharing, peer-teaching, and self-evaluating. Learning tasks and activities are always designed to culminate with the student planning and taking action to enact real and tangible change in the world.
此學程經過嚴謹的設計,是一套以科技素養、思維習慣和工作流程為教學重點的全英語課程。學生會共同學習實用的工作流程和工具,例如程式語言、媒體科技及各類型的設計流程等,並吸收能運用於真實世界中的專業技能與知識。在學習的過程中,老師會向學生示範所學技能如何與知識相互結合,以實現目標並取得正面的成果。不同於看重背誦和應試技巧的填鴨式教育,此學程的規劃將幫助學生建立韌性和獨特性,允許學生在安全的環境中探索並從錯誤中學習。課程的設計涵蓋傳統和現代的學科,例如程式語言、統計學、數學、寫作、科學、藝術與設計、社會、傳播學及商學。
學生透過各領域、學科專家所組成的教師團隊指導,完成融入了社會議題、跨學科的專案。教師團隊包括導師與來自產業界、社會的外部合作夥伴,他們共同致力於為學生提供最全面、實用且有效的指導內容,並透過科技的運用及翻轉教室的教學,讓學生能夠按照自己的步伐學習較具挑戰性的學科。學生被評量的範圍包括對於作業或任務的付出、解決問題的能力以及學習目標的達成情況。學生所有的作業和專案皆涵蓋多個學術領域。
學習過程中的每個環節皆環環相扣,且具循環性、反覆性及迭代性,因為課程內容會持續建立在之前所習得的技能之上,或者挑戰學生在不同的框架中,是否仍能將之前所學的工作習慣和流程學以致用。每次的迭代也都會較前一次更具挑戰性和複雜。 此計劃裏的學習經常會以學生為導向,且需要學生之間共同合作及建構,換句話說,學生會自發性地學習,與同儕之間互相分享資源及教學,最後還需懂得如何進行自我評估。 本機構在設計學習活動時,最主要的考量是如何讓學生自己規劃並採取實際的行動,為現實社會和世界帶來實質的改變。
