Gattaca Review and Discussion
《千鈞一髮》賞析與討論
One of the big discussion topics for this period explored the degree to which our birth circumstances are responsible for and control our success later in life. At the same time, these genetic factors will often shape our perceptions of the value of an individual. Gattaca, a modern day classic starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, and Jude Law, presented the students with the story which showed us the life of a man born in less than ideal genetic circumstances and his struggle to overcome both real and socially prescribed limitations. This movie facilitated deep and meaningful thought and discussions among the class. Some of the students' thoughts and opinions are shown here.
本學期探討的其中一個重要議題為出生條件對於一個人未來能取得的成就會有多大程度的影響。除此之外，人們體內的遺傳因子往往會塑造他們對於如何衡量一個人價值的看法。《千鈞一髮》（Gattaca）是一部由伊桑·霍克、鄔瑪·瑟曼和裘德·洛主演的現代經典電影，描述了一個男人雖先天有基因上的劣勢，卻透過自身後天的努力克服了現實和社會中種種的規範及限制。這部電影促使全班同學進行了深度思考及討論。下列為學生的想法和意見。
