Interview with Claire

By daniel chen

In the workplace, individuals of different genders often experience distinct treatments and expectations, to know the difference we invited Claire, a woman who works as a programmer and is the main financial provider for her family, to share her experiences with us. We have prepared some questions to find out more about her journey.

I've got some questions about games and game-making for Claire since we know she enjoys playing games and even creates some herself. I'm also wants to take a guess at what her answers might be!

First, I thought Claire liked Puzzle games, base on the games she made, but turns out she's love RPG games more. she enjoys the social connections in virtual worlds.

Second, I guessed she doesn't play games with her family, and I was right. However, her husband is a gamer too, he will play games with their children.

Third, I guessed Claire sees games as a way for everyone to relax. Claire sees games as a way to relax and take a break from the real world. According to her, games let people chill out, take a breather, and have fun moments with friends.

Fourth, I thought Claire might believe male game characters should be strong, and females should be beautiful. But she said character design is about everyone's preferences. People just generally like good-looking characters, whether they're guys or girls. It's more about what everyone finds appealing, not sticking to old stereotypes.

In RPG games, people treat male and female players equally, I think people also treat male and female players equally in other kinds of games too, the environment of games are better now. But Moba games are an exception I think in this kind of games people still think female players are worse, or that they can only win with help from others. Sometimes that's true, but there are some female players who do well and we shouldn't over generalize.

Claire's insights reveal ongoing challenges for women in the workplace and internet. To create a more supportive environment, addressing these issues is crucial. However, it's a complex task and it take a lot of time that requires increased awareness and attention from the public.
