| Another factor that is often under consideration in measurements of worth of an individual is our work and our positions at work. Closely related to the topic of gender's effects and influences in society is the issue of women in the workplace. While it is clear that women have contributed value at an equal level as men throughout history, in some (many) countries, it has not been until recent history where women have been (more) fully recognized and integrated into the formal "professional world". This is doubly true in industries such as STEM and in managerial positions. The reasons for this are of course multi-faceted, and for our learning the class focused on the role of education, guidance, and expectations directed towards women, and how these shaped and led them to where they are in society at present.
