Lost on the Way to the Recycling Yard

by Olivia Wang

This is a story about a plastic bottle that was not thrown into the trash can after being used, so the plastic bottle wandering outside.

One day, there was a student called Andy. On the way to school, he passed a 7-11. He walks into the 7-11 and buys a drink. He wants to take it to school to drink later, so he doesn't need to spend points to buy it in school. Andy walked into the classroom before late. Now, Andy was sweating profusely. He directly opened the cold drink and drank it all and threw the finished bottle in the corner of the classroom.

The bottle “Harry”, which was just thrown into the corner by Andy, was turning over with difficulty. He turned his head and saw a window by the corner. The weather outside the window is like his mood. The sun outside the window gradually disappeared, the clouds slowly gathered. Finally, the rain falls down, and the relentless rain drops on Harry’s face. The rain soaked Harry’s whole body. Harry was choked by the water, and a bitter cold feeling followed. At this moment, Harry felt unprecedented despair….

When Harry was gradually numb by the cold rain, he remembered the factory where he was born. In the factory, he has his family and friends. Today’s morning they were still excitedly transported to the store, and waited with expectation after being used by people. They hope they completed their mission and returned to the recycling yard to meet with family and friends again. Unfortunately, now Harry seems unable to be with his family and friends anymore.

Harry doesn't know how many days and nights, rainy and sunny, have passed. Finally, a student saw Harry and put him on the table. Inadvertently Harry saw the student’s name tag, his name is “Jack”. Harry finally left the corner, he felt the breeze gently blowing on his face. Harry looked at the world outside the window. This time he not only saw the clouds and the sky. This time he also saw many kinds of people on the streets. They all held different bottles in their hands, which gave Harry's desperate heart a glimmer of hope again. Maybe he might see his family again? But Jack quickly destroys this little hope of Harry. Jack picked up Harry. The next second, Jack threw Harry into the sky. The world in front of Harry suddenly turned around, making him feel dizzy. But Jack didn’t want to stop, he called more and more people come to play bottle flip. When Harry didn't know how many times he was thrown into the sky, people finally stopped playing, and then threw Harry out the window again.

In the end, I want to tell everyone that plastic bottles are difficult to decompose. They will stay in the environment for a long time. Therefore, we should put plastic bottles in the trash can correctly to avoid other plastic bottles encountering the same tragedy as Harry.
