Mark told us a lot about recycling. One question he asked us was “How to make a brand new item from old items and sell it, even if it is recycled again, it can be renewed again.” this was Mr. Mark’s question.
Thousands of old and worn-out clothes are recycled every year. Especially clothes from H&M, they have a system that u can throw away old clothes there and they will give you something like a voucher. So all those clothes end up at a warehouse, and professional peoples come by and remove all zippers, buttons. After that, those clothes will be renewed into new clothes and new items.
There is a type of plastic that is called “PET”. These PET plastics and bottles can be made into clothes and shoes. Mark was one of those people that was in charge of the design into making those clothes and shoes. So he is technically repairing and fixing those old things for future generations.
Mark and his team also designed a type of blanket that is soon going to be made into a robe. This blanket is so special because the blanket can be used as velcro. This will be really useful for patients at hospitals for easy changing. Riping the velcro takes no force and stays out very strong, so patients that are weak can change with ease.
Being a part of the recycling and renewing team is pretty complicated. There are a lot of steps to follow and a lot of things to design and test out. Being able to help celebrities make and design things out of recycled materials takes a lot of communication and agreement.
