Biography of an Elderly Family Member

Chinese version of the Biography

Uncle Su was a Taiwanese who was born in 1951. He has a sister and a brother who are both younger than SuYingJian. His sister is younger than him by 1 year. There is a big age difference between his brother and him. He is closer to his sister because their ages are closer. Uncle Su’s father was a person who experienced the Japanese occupation era, and he received Japanese-style education and education of beating and scolding. Because his father received Japanese-style education, he also knows how to speak Japanese. Their family environment was considered a well-off family at that time. Uncle Su only lived with his parents and his younger siblings. He did not live with his grandparents, nor did he have a good relationship with them. He doesn’t live with his grandparents, and he doesn’t really play with his grandparents. Uncle Su is closer to his mother's relatives. Su YingJian has a son, his son already has children too.

Su doesn’t really play with his brother and sister, he plays with his classmates more. He often plays marbles(彈珠) with his classmate. Uncle Su’s schoolwork is not that heavy. The school didn’t give a lot of homework for them, and they don’t really have tests often. Uncle Su doesn’t like English class. He thinks English is difficult and hard for him. When he was still at school, his father planned to let him study in Japan. But Uncle Su refused to study in Japan because he thought if he went to Japan to study, he would engage in Taiwan independence. Also, he doesn't really like Japan. So the chance to study in Japan was given to his younger brother.

Uncle Su’s job was as a handler(處理人). This is the longest job that he did. Handler is a job that goes to other people’s houses and tells them to pay for the water. One time, Uncle Su went to a person’s house to ask the person to pay money for the water. When this person saw him, he knew that Uncle Su was coming to ask him to pay money for the water. The person saw Uncle Su come, and he told Uncle Su that he won’t pay for the money, and threatened him(威胁他). Another time, a mother and daughter did not pay the water bill, so he stopped their water. Later, the mother and daughter met a bad guy in the park, and bad things happened. Uncle Su felt that he was sorry for them, so he took the mother and daughter to a shoe store opened by his friend and let them choose a pair of shoes, and give it to them. Handler was not a very safe job at that time. If you met someone who was not good at talking and had a bad temper, you might be in danger.

Uncle Su mentioned in the interview that he has a friend who has a shoe store, and he also has a friend who grows three-star green onions. With his friend's consent, Uncle Su planted passion fruit and dragon fruit in his friend's field. Uncle Su told the interviewer that he wanted to take the interviewer to visit his friend’s insoles after finishing the interview. In the future, if the interviewer went to his friend’s shoe store to buy things, he could get a discount just by telling the store his name.

Now, he lives close to the Elderly Daycare Center. Uncle Su will walk back home after leaving the Elderly Daycare Center. Sometimes he will go to his neighbor to drink Pu'er tea. Uncle Su really likes his grandson, he said that if his grandson wants something, he will try his best to satisfy his grandson.

Uncle Su is a person that is very enthusiastic, he treats people and things with enthusiasm. After the interview, he invited the interviewer to drink Pu-erh tea and went to the canteen. Uncle Su is really a very enthusiastic and easy-going elder.

蘇叔叔是一位出生於西元1951年(民國40年)的台灣人。他的有一個比他小1歲的妹妹，和一個跟他年齡差比較大的弟弟。他和他妹妹感情更好，因為他們的年齡更相近。 他的爸爸是經歷過日治時代的人，接受的是日式教育和打罵教育的。因為父親接受的是日式教育，所以他也會說日語。 他們的家庭環境在當時算是小康家庭。 蘇叔叔只有和他的父母還要他的弟弟妹妹住在一起，他並沒有和祖父母住在一起，也沒有和祖父母關係很好。 蘇叔叔與母親的家人關係更親近。蘇先生有個兒子，他兒子也已經有了孩子。

蘇叔叔的父母都很忙，所以他從小在家就要幫忙做飯。 蘇叔叔不怎麼和弟弟妹妹玩，更多的是和同學們一起玩。 他經常和他的同學玩彈珠。蘇叔叔在學校的課業沒有那麼重。 學校沒有給他們佈置很多作業，他們也不經常考試。 蘇叔叔不喜歡上英語課。 他覺得英語對他來說很難。 在蘇叔叔還在上學的時候，父親就計畫讓他去日本留學。但是蘇叔叔拒絕了去日本留學，因為他覺得如果他去了日本的話，他會在日本搞台獨，而且他不是很喜歡日本。於是就把去日本留學的機會讓給了他的弟弟。

蘇叔叔的工作是在水廠做“處理人”。 這是他做過的最長久的工作。 處理人這一份工作是要去別人的家，告訴他們支付水費。 有一次，蘇叔叔去告訴一戶人家要繳水錢。 當這人一看到蘇叔叔，就知道他是來找他繳水錢的。 那人看到蘇叔叔來了，他告訴蘇叔叔自己不會付錢的，並威脅了他。還有一次，是有一對母女不交水費，所以他把她們的水費給停了。後來那對母女在公園遇到了不好的男生，發生了不好的事情。蘇叔叔覺得自己有點對不起他們，於是便帶著那對母女去到了他朋友開的一家鞋店，讓他們挑了一雙鞋子送給他們。處理人這項工作在那個年代不是一個非常安全的工作，萬一遇到不好談話，脾氣不好的人，很有可能會陷入危險。

蘇叔叔在採訪中提到了，他除了有一個開鞋店的朋友，還有一個朋友是種三星蔥的。經過他朋友同意，蘇叔叔在他朋友的田地種了百香果和火龙果。蘇叔叔跟採訪者說，結束後想帶採訪者去他朋友的鞋墊逛逛，未來如果去他朋友的鞋店買東西，只要報他的名字就能夠打折喔。

他現在住在老人日照中心附近。 離開了日托中心，蘇叔叔就要步行回家。 有時他會去鄰居家喝普洱茶。 蘇英堅很喜歡他的孫子，他說如果孫子想要什麼，他都會盡全力滿足他的兩個孫子。

蘇叔叔是一個很熱情的人，他對待人和事物都充滿了熱情。正式的採訪結束後，他還帶了採訪者去到他家附近喝了普洱茶，還去了小賣部。蘇叔叔真的是一位非常熱情，而且好好溝通的長輩喔。
