Designing an Experiment to Test Our Destressing Images
Made by: Yuna Wu
The topic of this semester is to give service to people, especially elderly people. We want to help people relax through the destressing images we make. For my research on how to let people relax, the thing I research is shape. So, I research “What kind of shape can let people relax”. After researching, my hypothesis is: Shapes with softer sides and less vertices (corners) and less pointy vertices will help people relax. when they see them. I learn the designing experiments during working on those things. The experiments should be everyone can do it and other people can repeat the same results, and also we need to find the group that will be the most suitable(最適合) for the test.
- Question: What kind of shape will help people relax?
- Hypothesis: Shapes with softer sides and less vertices (corners) and less pointy vertices will help people relax. when they see them.
- Prediction: If I show a person a shape with a pointy vertices, and another shape without pointy vertices, then the person will feel more relaxed after seeing the latter(后者).
Steps
- find a person
- let them see the circle, and the shapes that have vertices
- ask them what which shape let them feel relax, and which not
- Show them shapes one at a time
- after they see shapes they have to check whether they feel “the same”, “more nervous”, or “more relaxed”
- if they check “more nervous” and “more relaxed”, they have to check on a scale of 1~5 how much they feel of those feelings
- write down the result
