image/svg+xml Recognizing that everyone is stressed out, students designed and programmed interactive digital images to reduce stress. To accomplish this, they used several JavaScript programming libraries and physical computing.Destressing Images image/svg+xml Another service that we are trying to provide this semester is a biographical introduction of our partners at the Taipei Datong Elderly Daycare Center. These individuals welcomed us and graciously shared stories from their lives, teaching us both about what society was like in the past and also about some details of their current activities and daily pursuits.Elderly Biography image/svg+xml We wanted to learn how to add unique physical control to our stress-relieving images. To accomplish this, we studied how to build and program circuits which involve microcontrollers, particularly the Arduino Uno microcontroller.Micro-controllers and Hydra image/svg+xml Hydra is an image processing software that we utilized this semester to create some interesting visual effects, later utilizing it in the design of our de-stressing images for our elderly friends.Educating the Public About Hydra image/svg+xml One of the services the students designed this semester was visual art that could help with the alleviation of stress. An early step in this learning process involved the students exploring their own reactions to certain visual stimulus, with input coming from work from professional artists in the art field.Perceptions of Visual Cues image/svg+xml A super big thanks to all our friends at the Center for Innovation Taipei who took valuable time from their busy working schedules to help us out with our crazy simulations. Not only were they required to wear our elderly simulation suit, they had to undertake a series of difficult tasks.Elderly Simulation image/svg+xml This education program currently involves a small group of students. Each is unique and talented in their own way, with different strengths and contributions to our team.About our Students image/svg+xml Among the main topics of this semester's work was that of aging society and its elderly members. If we are to attempt to devise ideas to facilitate an easier life experience for these treasured members of our community, we will need to start by considering their current role in the social group and how others perceive them.Image of the Elderly
