Putting Together a Visual Message
By Yiler Huang
This is the planning of how our posters would look in the visual message design project.
The level of Maslow's Hierarchy of need the message is targeting
Because the target audience is “they healthy people who believes that are better and healthier than others”. Therefore, the message will mainly focus on the self esteem and self actualization level of the hierarchy, because the target audience might be people with high need of confidence and esteem.
The "truth" I want to tell the audience
The truth I want to tell the audience was that they are not really healthy and they were just over confident about their health.
The main message to the audience
They can achieve the “real” healthiness after using my product.
The colors used and the reasonings behind them
The background will be white, and the fruit that are used are going to be banana, apple, and grapes. The text on the poster will be green. This is because white gives people a feeling of clean and sacred, and the color of the three fruits could all stand out very well from the white background. The text will be green because it reminds people of nature but still keeps the message low key.
The props used and the reasoning behind them
- Mirror: Because the message is about self esteeml, a mirror would be a good representation of the audience themselves.
- Twigs: Twigs could represent the idea of natural and healthy.
- Fog: The “truth” of the message is meant for the audience to realize that their healthiness is fake. The idea of fake could be represented by the fog because it is often associated with uncertainty.
The choice of model
I chose Dr. Bell as the model because I need someone who wears black in the picture, and Dr. Bell is always in black.
What will the model do in the shot
The model will be holding two things on each hand. On one hand is a picture of fruits, and on the other hand is the real fruits.
