Hello everyone, I am Johnny. I am now a 3rd Year Undergraduate Student at the English Program at the University of Tsukuba in Japan. Since I’m actually almost like on a break right now, I will be participating here as an Internship Teach Assistant for a month and one week with you all. I was a student of Dr. Lee and Mr. Scott when I was a first-year high school student at an international school at Taoyuan, and they have inspired me very much on my academic developments and personal growth. I am very grateful to know and have them as my important mentors of my school life! I am currently major in Social Studies and International Studies in particular, which obviously is not 100% relevant to some of the class contents of you guys this semester, but as we are in a flexible, experimental education, I believe I would be working with you all on some discussions and group projects, and I would assist you all on your works which hopefully I could be an inspiring role who could guide you stay on track on your assignments, produce splendid works, and improve yourselves. On the other hand, I would also pay my greatest effort to train my individual speaking, socializing, logical thinking, time/data management, and leadership skills, and I hope myself could also gain inspiration on working through this internship program. Please feel free to ask me any questions about assignments, my personal university experiences, and any other things I am able to answer! Nice to meet you all, and I wish I would have a fruitful experience with you all through this month!

Reflection

First, I would like to appreciate Dr. Lee and all the faculties for the fabulous opportunity to have me participate and experience in an actual internship. As one of the Dr. Lee’s former students, it is my greatest honor to work with him and listen to more intriguing lessons or lecturing strategies from him. Over this one month, I realized I have enriched myself in various aspects of self-developments and self-improvements. By listening to Dr. Lee and Mr. Chen’s class, I did not only reviewed/refreshed some lessons I may have been forgotten, but also had broader and clearer views or inspirations about how shall I conduct researches and how shall I apply or connect school knowledge with real life. By engaging in the programming lessons, despite I was unlikely to finish all the tasks Dr. Bell hoped me to complete, I could sense a considerable extent of self-enhancement on my attitudes when I face the challenges I originally felt reluctant to confront, and my awareness and reflections on my weak points or learning methods. By assisting and supervising the students, I could understand the difficulties of being an educator, in terms of how to manage the discipline of the students, and how to make students effectively and clearly understand or reflect about the ideas and knowledge they do not understand and confused about, and at least as I really choose to be an educator in the future, the experiences this time could provide a useful self-mental preparation. By observing the efforts and the hard works of the three teachers trying to construct their independent team as an educational institution, I also have a better understanding on the challenges as educators. Last but not the least, I am extremely glad that I could join as an intern at Dr. Lee’s team this time, and the experience is really beneficial on my individual advancements on my individual mindset maturity, my communication skills, my learning skills, and my critical thinking level. Under the second-cultivation for me by Dr. Lee’s team, I expect that I would surely have more confidence when I face the challenge and discover my clear future goals from now on!
