+Do you think you can survive the AI era? In this dynamic society, things are changing faster than we expected. Therefore, planning your own future has became more and more important for everyone in the society, especially for the younger generations. Or else we might not be able to adapt the society that keeps improving faster and faster. I am Yiler Huang, I was born in Taipei and is becoming a high school student this year. In other words, I've been studying for almost 10 years. In my life, I've studied in many different schools. I spent my first four years in public elementary school, another four years in a private school, and I've been studying in my current school for two years. I learned a lot of things in these ten years I spent in school. I developed an interest in music when I was in 2nd grade, and that was when I started playing piano. I also took violin lessons for a year during the 3rd grade. However, I stopped taking piano lessons in the 9th grade because I didn't have as much time as before. I realized that the time I have is getting shorter and shorter as I grow older, therefore I think it is important to manage and plan out what I am doing in the future. In this essay, I will be talking about some experiences I gained from school, my worries about AI, and my future goal about education and job.

+Over the past two years I studied in my current school, I learned some new skills such as programming, graphics design, data analysis etc. Out of all the skills I've learned, I think the most interesting one is programming. Before I got into the field of programming, I thought programmers spend most of their time coding, but in fact it takes more time to debug code than to write one. While debugging could be sometimes frustrating, it is still satisfying when there is finally nothing wrong with the code.

+Recently, there is a huge improvement in the development of artificial intelligence. Whether or not you will be replaced by AI became one of the most popular lunchtime topics, and people were going crazy about it on the internet worrying that AI will eventually take control over the world like in the movie The Matrix. I believe that in order to survive in the era of AI, programming is considered an important skill. Even though news article writers often write click-bait articles saying that AI is going to replace programmers, it is actually still hard for AI to simulate the creativity of human. Therefore, I will keep studying programming because getting replaced by AI doesn't sound fun.

+In the current stage of my life, my biggest goal is to study in a university I would enjoy studying in. While I don't have a clear idea of the specific school I want to study in, schools in Canada or Australia are my preferences. This is because I learned that these two countries have nice weather and relatively safer than a lot of countries. Also, because one of my past teachers and one of my current teachers have the experience of studying and living in Canada, it is easy for me to get useful advice from them if I were going to study in Canada. Finally, because I have interest in music and programming, I will put schools that are more related to these two things in my consideration. After graduation, my first choice of job would be a freelance developer, because I don't like waking up early in the morning, and I think being a freelance developer would give me more freedom in my time management so I can customize my daily schedule more effectively and it could also help me to save a lot of time and money from transportation.

+After sharing what I have learned in my ten years in school, my worry about AI, and my future goal for education and job, I think there are some actions that have to be taken or planned in order for me to achieve my goal. While I don't have a clear or specific idea of the necessary things I need to do, I believe that the most important things are to keep improving on programming, and study more music theory if I want to apply for schools related to music. I will also try to improve my graphics design skill because I think having multiple skills is a big advantage in the dynamic economical environment, and it is also something I enjoy doing. Overall, I would keep studying music and programming after turning into a high school student, do further research on schools I am interested in, and try my best to become a freelance developer. After reading my plan, I strongly suggest you to also make your own plan for life. This is because with a proper plan, you can better understanding of what are things you need to do to achieve your goal. I hope these plans will work, or else I might not be able to survive when AI takes over everyone's job.
