Guest speaker Giles and Connie 演講嘉賓

We contacted our partners, Taiwan SPCA towards the end of last semester to inquire about the possibility of working together this year. In addition to the expected fund raising, adoption assistance, and support of animal shelters, SPCA also handles large numbers of reports of animal abuse cases each year. This work takes their limited staff and resources all across Taiwan, where their dedicated staff personally investigates, mediates, communicates, and sometimes even litigates cases in order to ensure that animals are being treated in accordance to their needs and the dignity that any living being deserves. SPCA does on a daily basis what our class is attempting this semester, advocating on behalf of those who do not have a voice.

In addition to all this, SPCA also interacts with a large number of schools to educate youth about animal welfare issues and encourage positive action towards this social cause.

We were very lucky to find such a knowledgeable and supportive partner for our mission this semester, and would like to especially say a big thank you to Executive Director Ms. Connie, and also Director of Educational Outreach Mr. Giles, who personally visited our class to speak with and educate us, sharing their knowledge and experiences regarding this issue. We were able to not only learn more about animal welfare and protection work, but also to receive valuable feedback and suggestions about our project.
