Wally (written by Brandon Chen and Howard Liao)

One day, Wally, a city dog, was walking to a mountain. He wanted to get some fresh air and have a peaceful walk. Wally just finished carrying wood to help build the new building. While walking, he saw many things. Wally saw a deer, some insects that Wally hates, and some squirrels. He was walking when all of a sudden he saw a man. This man was a middle-aged man-somewhere around 20-25. He was wearing a red shirt with jeans and had brownish hair. He was also on the ground breathing, very hard. It was as if he was running a marathon without stopping. He murmured, “Help, I, I am out of breath.” Then, I could hear his heart beating. Thump. Thump. It continued for 1 minute. Then, there was a moment of silence. That was when I knew he was dead. Then I remembered his face. He was Flash. One of the DC Heroes. I was in shock, so I thought about reporting to the police station that Flash had died.

Wally goes to the police station because he needs to tell the police about Flash's death. Wally wants someone to save him. When Wally went to the police station, he felt like he could run faster than a bullet. Everything he saw was blurry. Before, it would have taken 30 minutes to get to the police station. Now it takes 3 minutes. Wally feels so happy because he can save so many people using this superpower. It also lets Wally remember his past when he was a puppy. Wally remembered, his dad and mom were living with him until one day in the morning, there were a lot of dogs screaming and people laughing. Then he heard his dad and mom scream, “Hurry they will get you. Go hide in the mountains. GO GO GO,” and then there was silence. Now that Wally has superpowers, he can run very fast and could save so many lives from the dog catchers.

The next day, Wally was walking to a restaurant to get food. He had to get through many alleys that would look creepy to people. While going into the narrow space, he saw many people. Some were eating, some were, playing in an open space, and even saw some dogs with their owners. That reminded him how much he wanted to have an owner. A few minutes later, he was walking into the alley. He heard many screams inside the narrow passage and started sprinting to the place. Five people were taking a bat and bullying a kid that was about 12-15. The five bullies told him to give them money or else they would injure him very badly with the bat. When Wally saw it, he knew this could be the chance to use his powers and save people. He needed to help the kid, but also, he didn't want to hurt the bullies. At the last second, his mind told him to take the kid and run away. He used his power and took the kid by putting the kid on his back and ran away.

After he saved the kid, he took him to a public area with a lot of people just in case he got bullied again. Then, he ran to a park to walk. He wanted to think, did he do a good job of saving that person, did anyone get hurt badly. He was worried those bullies would spread words that they saw a dog that ran as fast as a flash. After he finished walking he was going to walk back home. He then saw someone walk across the street even though he is not allowed to. He stood there till the light turned green. Then he walked. Again and again, he saw many people walking past the red light. Then he thought, why do I, a street dog, follow rules that humans make but still don’t follow all the time. I should be the one that doesn’t follow the rules. I shouldn’t even know when it is a green light or red light because I’m color blind. After he got home, he kept thinking and found an answer. He thinks that humans mostly follow the rules and that when they don’t, they have a reason.
