Chapter 6
John's wanted to go to the mall with his friends to find cheap computer parts this weekend, so he went to ask her mother for permission. But she did not agree with it. In fact, she looked sad and said, “John, we have lots of customers now, and I really need your help at the store. I know you want to go with your friends, but helping at the store is very important.” John didn't listen and insisted on going anyway.
“Remember, John, when you were little, we worked really hard to run this store and have the life we have now,” his mom continued, trying to remind him of their family efforts. “I work hard every day so you can have a good life and learn well. Please help me this time, okay?”
John told his friends he couldn't go with them because his mom needed his help at the store. He explained what his mom had said. His friends suggested he understand his mom's hard work but also mentioned how rare it was for them all to go out together.
The day before the weekend, John thanked his mom again for all her hard work and explained how much he needed the computer parts to solve his problems. Therefore, seeing how much it meant to him, his mom finally agreed to allow him to go.
