Analysis and Thoughts on Responses to "Want" Survey

Made by: Zoey

Today we have a new research topic which is about needs and wants, we will conduct a street survey so we will try as hard as we can to get the information from others. We will ask the subjects two questions which are “In the past three months, what two things have you wanted the most?” and “Why do people have desires for things?”. we want to know the answer because we just want to know, with no reason😂.

Of 14 students age female, for the first question, 50% of the students, the thing they want is what they already have. like lipstick, clothes, necklaces, and shoes, This seems to tell us that most of them want to let themself look good or they want others to notice them. only 7% of the student says something that they need. like money and partner competence. for the last answer, it make me feel so surprised because, for the “partner competence” one, she must have met a very bad partner, otherwise, at this age, it is unlikely that such thoughts will appear. The other 43% say some think that do not have but they want. The second question thay have different answers for each person, 4 people say they want a thing because they need it(I can not understand🧐). they are two people, and their answers are pretty good one person says they have “better life qualities”, and the other says “Motivation For Life” For their answer, they want things because they want to get a better life or push themself.

Of 7 retirement-age females, 50% of retirement-age females say they do not want anything, my own thought is they had their own money so they can buy the thing that they want so they have fewer things they want, and only one(7%) of the retirement-age females says the thing she needs, she says food. for the other 43% of people, the thing that they want is more like enjoy life, they say enjoy gourmets, listen to the concert, travel overseas, and Lottery. For the second answer, 7 people have 7 different answers. It has one answer that is very special, she says to purchase a new object when the old one cannot be used anymore. Although people love the new and dislike the old, in this situation, it's more like a need, not a want.

for this research, it is hard for me to compare some of the data. because most people have different answers and opinions so it has a lot of answers only one person answers it or we just do not ask enough people. (I try my best)
