This is a reaction to Attention and Intention Blindness we learned in a class.
In the class, we learned something about attention and inattention blindness. They are phenomenons that makes people ignore things they are not focused on. When we are communicating with people, we can specify our topic and tell them to focus on it. If they do so, distractions might be ignored and that could be helpful for them to understand faster and takes less effort for us to explain the topic. It might be also possible that when we can make people to ignore certain information by telling them to focus on some else, because they will focus on it and ignore some other things that they think are not related. Sometimes, we might need to reduce the complexity of our message because people might focus better if there is not too many things involved. When there are multiple topics involved in the message, we can try to make them equally important so people don't focus only on one of them and ignore the others. This is not only effective when communicating with people, but also good when it comes to influencing people. If we want to get certain kind of response from someone, we can make them answer in the way we want by putting more attentions on the specific part of the message. For example, commercial companies often make the package of their products noticeable so it draws more attention and make people ignore the products of their competitor on the same shelf.
