80 years ago, toys are really different than now. Most people play something like hopscotch(跳房子). The toy at the time are not so refined(沒有那麼精緻), and people don’t have that much money to buy toys for their children. Most of the toys are made of wood, and handmade. People that 80 years ago, their financial ability(經濟能力) are not that good, so they buy or make toys that were made of wood or handmade. At that time, popular games and toys included marbles(彈珠), hopter(竹蜻蜓), hopscotch(跳房子), and a gun made of chopsticks(筷子槍). They play those things that are cheaper because their financial ability is not that good, and they don’t have that much money to buy more expensive toys.

80 years ago, Taiwan mainly develops in agriculture. People’s economic environment(經濟環境) is not so good, so they start with the most basic agriculture. People 80 years ago, they don't have extra money to spend, so they develop basic livelihood products first. They grow wheat, corn, and everything that is easy to grow, and cost less money.

Around that time, there was a job called meter reader(抄錶人員). This job is to check did people pay for water. If people didn’t pay for the water, then the meter reader will go to their houses and knock on their door to let them pay for the water.
