The area looked rural, and there are not much streets or roads. According to Wikipedia, the pricing standard got higher because the resources were all used in wars at that time. Therefore, it was hard for people to live a luxury life. Therefore, the farming industry in Taiwan improved at that time. The government also came out with laws about owner ships of lands, and rules that helped to give laborers in farms a better treatment. There were about one third of lands in Taiwan are used for farming in 1956, and the most farmed crops are rice and sugar cane. According to the author's research, Taiwan's education for females was actually becoming common because Japanese government in 1898 cerated a female educational department in their official school Kokugo gakkou(the National Taipei University of Education now). The system develop from elementary school to middle school and high school, and made educations for females become more common after 1930.
